It works as promised, and makes a moderately loud noise if the door is moved/opened enough to trigger the mechanism. I am not sure about how much it adds to our home's security, as the same action on the door will trigger the alarm that is wired to alert the alarm company and sets off a very loud alarm in the house itself. Good for an apartment but it's a little difficult to hear in a two story house. Also drains the battery really fast (less than two weeks). Lateral strength - the width makes this straight edge very stable over distance- important when cutting large stock down to size. I have a very small shop that won't fit large extension and outfeed tables for my circular saw that would allow me to handle large sheet stock in this way. 2.
